The National Talent Search Exam ( NTSE 2017 ) is a scholarship exam conducted every year by NCERT for students studying in Class X. The exam was firstly started in 1963 by NCERT. It is one of the precious and hardest scholarship exam conducted in India. Its main prospectus is to identify the nurture talent among students. The exam is conducted every year in 2 stages i.e. the First stage is on State Level and Second stage is on National Level. It’s a Merit based scholarship exam. In which students can get the scholarship for study from Class XI to Ph.D.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All students of Class 10 studying in any Recognised Institution is eligible.
  • Students of all boards i.e. State Boards, CBSE, ICSE are eligible.
  • Students under Open Distance Learning is also eligible for it unless they are below 18 years and appearing for class 10 exam for the first time.

NTSE Scholarship Details

There is One thousand scholarship for students, that will be awarded as below.

  • Scholarship Worth Rs.1250 Per Month for Class XI & XII.
  •  Worth Rs.2000 Per Month for Undergraduate and Post-Graduate.
  • Scholarship amount for Ph.D. will fix according to UGC norms.

NTSE Reservation Criteria

  •  No reservation for General and OBC caste group.
  • There is 15% reservation for SC.
  • There is 7.5% reservation for ST.
  • Physically Disabled students get up to 4% reservation.

NTSE Syllabus / Examination Pattern

Stage 1 :  NTSE 2017

The exam will be conducted in 2 states. The first stage will be State Level and second will be on National Level. Stage 1 examination will be conducted by SCERT and Stage 2 examination will be conducted by NCERT.

  • Mental Ability Test ( MAT ) – This test is for testing the Mental ability of the candidate. In this paper, There will be 50 questions of Mental Ability / Reasoning.
  • Language Test – This test is for analysis language knowledge. In this paper, There will be 50 questions of both Hindi and English i.e. 50 questions of Hindi and 50 questions of English. Candidate can select any lang. among Hindi & English and solve 50 questions of that language.
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test ( SAT ) – In this test, there will be mixed questions of Science ( Physics, Chemistry, Biology ), Social Sci. ( Geography, History, Civics, Economics ) and Maths. The paper will contain 100 questions.

Negative Marking – No, There will be No Negative Marking in Stage 1.

 

All paper and tests will be Objective with Four Options for each question.

 

NTSE exam 2017  Stage 2

Examination pattern will be same but there will Negative Marking in Stage 2. That means 1 / 3 Marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in Stage 2 exam.

Qualifying Marks for NTSE 2017 – 18

Candidates have to pass Stage 1 examination to be eligible for Stage 2 examination. Candidates have to secure marks in Stage 1 according to qualifying marks to be eligible for Stage 2 examination. Qualifying marks for each category is as follows –

  • The Qualifying Marks for the unreserved category will be 40% in each test i.e. 20 Marks in Mat, 20 Marks in Lang Test and 40 Marks in SAT.
  • The Qualifying Marks for SC / ST category will be 32% in each test i.e. 16 Marks in MAT, 16 Marks in Lang Test and 32 Marks in SAT.

 

Examination Application Fee

Examination and Admission form fee will be based on State. So Visit your state’s SCERT website for Fee in your state. The Admission form fee for SC/ST and Physical Disabled students will be Half from General Students.

However, The examination Fee in many states is Rs.100 Only for General and Rs.50 for SC/ST and Physical Disabled Students.

How to Apply For NTSE 2017?

Students of Class X can apply for this examination by submitting their well-filled application form with Rs.100 examination fee to school in which they study. After that school will send that Application form to SCERT.

  1. Download Application form for your state. ( Download Link Below )
  2. Print the form and Fill It.
  3. Submit the well-filled application form to School / Institution in which you read.
  4. Also, Submit Examination Fee ( Rs.100 ) to school.
  5. Then, School will further send your application form to SCERT.

 

Note – You must have to submit your form to school/institution in which you read. If you directly send application form to SCERT, then it will be canceled.

How to Fill NTSE Application form?

  • Use only Blue / Black Ball point pen.
  • Use Capital Letters in boxes.
  • Leave One Space between two words.
  • Do not write any Name in the address section.
  • Do not write or tick outside the box.
  • Some Boxes have to fill with codes. For appropriate code see the second paper attached with Application Form.
